On September 3, 2026, Nvidia Corp. agreed to acquire Hugging Face, the New York and Paris based open source artificial intelligence platform, in a transaction valued at approximately 12.9 billion dollars. Hugging Face was co-founded a decade ago by three French entrepreneurs, Clement Delangue (Chief Executive Officer), Julien Chaumond (Chief Technology Officer), and Thomas Wolf (Chief Science Officer). Under a six year retention agreement, the founders will remain with the company, and each is expected to hold a net worth of approximately 1.8 billion dollars according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. The deal marks Nvidia’s largest founder-led acquisition to date and represents a bet on open source AI models. The value was not officially disclosed by the parties.
